What a world class operation and experience. Bar-none the most fun and best snowboarding days of my life. I'm worried that from here on out I won't be able to enjoy on resort riding anymore. The team is incredibly prepared and makes you feel safe, even when you're unsure about your own skills as a rider. The kind of people you share this experience with are also of the same mindset: passionate riders who are inclusive and supportive. I'm already planning my trip for next year! We had the pleasure of spending three incredible days with HBC in Hokkaido, and it was truly one of the best experiences of our lives. As seasoned skiers from the Alps, with a pretty advanced level, we were thoroughly impressed by the professionalism and safety measures upheld by the HBC team throughout our ski touring, Mt Yotei climb, heliskiing, and lift-assisted backcountry adventures.

The guides were not only highly knowledgeable and skilled but also ensured that every moment was both exhilarating and secure. The breathtaking scenery and the pristine powder snow of Hokkaido made for an unforgettable trip.

We can't recommend HBC enough for anyone looking to explore the stunning backcountry of Hokkaido.
It's the the clear difference between true professional and mid level "ski guide"!!

We’ve done two trips now with Hokkaido Backcountry Club. The first was a seven day multi-location tour and the second was a couple of guided backcountry days near Niseko. Both experiences were amazing. The guides are fun and knowledgeable and have always managed to get us into some great terrain. Can’t wait to use them again on our next trip.

I am now jaded by the best powder in the world! I did a heli ski tour with Hokkaido Backcountry Club today and found the service and experience to be top tier! All the guides were professional, highly skilled, and Very knowledgeable. They kept safety above all else and made myself and the other guest comfortable during our tour. Our family of 5 has just returned to our home in Verbier, Switzerland after 10 days of Japow over Christmas and New Year 2025!
What an experience, 5 days and we booked 3 back country tours with HBC and were shown secret stashes of pow. Their guides drove us to 3 different resorts, found us untracked spaces, looked after us and were always in high spirits and loved their jobs.

We stayed at their Black Diamond Lodge where the staff was friendly and helpful, and we had a great Christmas dinner with the full works- eggnog, turkey, stuffing etc.!

We had some problems with the Japanese driving regulations, and Clayton, the owner of HBC so very generously took the whole family with all our huge ski luggage in his van all the way, for over 2 hours to the Sapporo car rental office, and then only accepted gas money! We loved his stories, his passion for Hokkaido and all his future exciting plans to develop the sporty outdoor tourism, including fishing! Clayton is truly a visionary man, humble, generous and a treasure!

We will be back, for the heli-skiing that is 'not-to be-missed', the catskiing and anything else they do- they are that good!

Book early- we wanted more days with guides but they were fully booked out.

Highly highly recommend, and follow them on Insta / FB!

Thanks to Taka and HBC, our trip was EPIC! Taka is a fantastic guide. He's extremely knowledgeable of the different regions and terrain that we skied, always took the time before each run to explain the snow conditions, any risks, the terrain, what to expect and where not to go. We managed to get an awesome range of riding in and always an onsen session to wrap up the day. And he put up with our 10,000 questions always with a smile and his infectious laugh. Plus he's a pretty awesome/cheeky snowboarder too 😉

Excellent company!!!! Went heli-skiing with them and had a flawless experience, all the way through to the pizza they gave us for lunch. Incredible organization and efficiency, staff is super friendly and guides are extremely knowledgeable!! Would definitely like to Heli ski with them again!!!! Hoping to make it on a Shimamaki Snowcat tour with them soon too!! Heard it's tooo good out there!!

These guys were amazing. The quality of guides, the safety, the quality of snow, the logistics. All superb. I was travelling on my own and have skied a lot and it at least met or surpassed high expectations throughout. While the mountain isn’t the highest, the quality of runs are immense. You need to be a good skier. The trees are close together and it can get tiring. If you’re on the fence about your ability then you may end up wasting money by sitting it out, as a couple of people did on the two days I was there.
